t was probably the Komorowski family that had a castle built in Kijany. It was set on a square plan, with a courtyard at the center and a gate and a four-sided tower to the south, all surrounded by an embankment. In 1599 the castle belonged to Piotr Czerny, later on it passed into the hands of the Firlej family.
