e castle in Mi³om³yn is situated near the ford over the Liwa River by the old rout leading from Elbl±g to Ostróda. The settlement was granted its civic rights in 1335, but the castle might have been built earlier for protection of the rout. When the town fortifications were built the castle might have been incorporated into the area surrounded by the town walls. The castle served as a seat of the Order's prosecutors subordinate to the Commander of Dzie¿goñ. In 1525 it became a seat of the Pomezania bishops and since 1586 it was a duke's property. Soon it was pulled down.
The only image of the castle (by J.M.Giese) that has preserved is dated from the first quarter of the 19th century.
