here is Zamkowa (Castle) Street in Orneta, but only cellars have remained of the castle. They are incorporated into the school building raised on the site of the castle. The castle was erected in Gothic style by the Warmia bishops in the first half of the 14th century. The reconstruction works took place in the early 17th century and also in the 18th century. Until the first partition of Poland it served as a bishops' seat. In the 19th century the castle was pulled down by the Prussian administration.
